Amina wanted a dress in lace but she didn't want ivory or white - so we chose champagne. There was lots of hand-stitched lace appliqué in her design. She also wanted a detachable train to give her a different look for her wedding reception.

Bukky had had no luck finding a dress that fitted her properly or that suited her height. So she decided to go the bespoke route by coming to Kosibah and we settled on a modified A-line as the most flattering silhouette for her. Her dress had a hand-ruched bodice featuring specially commissioned beading and embroidery. We matched the appliqué on her skirt and mantilla cathedra veil.

Her dress had a hand-ruched bodice featuring specially commissioned beading and embroidery. We matched the appliqué on her skirt and mantilla cathedra veil.

So it was a delight to be making dresses for three generations at the wedding: Charlotte's dress of course, but also that of her grandmother, bridesmaids and Lady Boateng's herself. Charlotte's marriage service was held at the Parliamentary Church of St Margaret's Westminster (the "parish church" of the House of Commons).
Charlotte's wedding dress skirt featured embroidered tulle which we embellished by hand with thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals. The shape was a modified fishtail. The bodice bore a fashionable asymmetrical strap over one shoulder in ruched duchesse satin.

Yemi remembers: "Dawn fell in love with a dress she'd seen in an editorial in a bridal magazine and tracked me down to London from her native Los Angeles. She flew in for her toile fittings in London and then flew me out to Los Angeles to dress her on her wedding day.
"She was married at the famous Wilshire Ebell of Los Angeles. The design she loved has become rather a Kosibah classic but we modified it slightly to match her tastes: the skirt Dawn wore was slightly simpler without the beading. It's an A-line zibeline dress with a slit down the centre-front revealing an ankle-length French lace pencil skirt worn underneath. Among the design's attractions are the three quartered length sleeves and featured studio commissioned jewellery on the sleeves and bodice."
